Orientation
In order to assist you with your transition to UNT, all new students are required to attend a summer orientation session. For freshmen, orientation is a 2-day experience designed to help students and families become acclimated to the university. For transfer students, orientation is a 1-day experience with the same goal.
During orientation, you will have the chance to meet with faculty and staff from your respective college or school, your new classmates, and current students, learn about campus resources, and receive academic advising in preparation for registering for classes. You will leave orientation with a class schedule for the upcoming semester.
Note: Part of the orientation experience is living in the residence halls. Orientation participants in Sessions 1–8 are required to spend the night in Maple Hall during their session.

Special Notes
- Session 9 is reserved for out-of-state students and requires special permission from the Office of New Student Programs.
- Transfer students with fewer than 30 credit hours can choose to participate in the Transfer Experience. Through the Transfer Experience Program, transfer students have the opportunity to participate in the 2-day orientation program, as opposed to the typical 1-day transfer orientation program. This provides students with the opportunity to connect more with campus and meet fellow transfers with similar credit hours and other new students. The Transfer Experience will be offered at sessions 2 and 5.
- All freshmen who graduate from high school in 2009, regardless of the number of earned college credits, are considered freshmen and are not eligible for this option.
How to Register for Orientation
To register for an orientation session, log-in to http://my.unt.edu with your EUID and password. Once logged in, click Student Center, then Register for Orientation. Register early as sessions fill up quickly.
