Frequently Asked Questions

When and where is Eagle Camp?

This year we're offering two Eagle Camps. Eagle Camp A is June 30–July 2. Eagle Camp B is August 21–23. This year Eagle Camp will be at Camp Copass, a summer camp site in Denton, off Lake Lewisville.

Who goes to Eagle Camp?

Eagle Camp is open to any new students who will be attending UNT in the fall. This includes both Freshman and Transfer students. We also have student leaders, faculty and staff volunteers at Camp. Also, Eagle Camp is for all types of people. We have activities that cater to different personality types and work on team-building and making connections, so don't miss out!

Why should I attend Eagle Camp?

You get a head-start on meeting new people, making friends, becoming a part of the UNT family and 93% of the people that went last year, said they'd recommend it! So maybe the question should be, "Why shouldn't I attend Eagle Camp?"

Does Eagle Camp conflict with sorority recruitment or marching band?

Eagle Camp DOES NOT conflict with Panhellenic's sorority recruitment. You will get back from Eagle Camp B early in the afternoon and Panhellenic's recruitment orientation doesn't start until that evening.

Eagle Camp DOES conflict with marching band practice. If you plan to be a part of the marching band, we encourage you to go to Eagle Camp A instead.

How much does it cost?

Due to a slightly different schedule Eagle Camp A costs $100 and Eagle Camp B costs $125. This includes transportation to and from Camp Copass, all meals throughout Eagle Camp, lodging, a t-shirt, a bag, and other goodies!

What if I don't like camps or the outdoors?

Lucky for you, Eagle Camp has such diverse activities that you have many options on the activities you participate in. Eagle Camp is NOT a camping trip—you will be staying in air-conditioned cabins, which have bunk beds and clean restrooms.

If you choose not to spend a lot of time outdoors, there are plenty of indoor activities to beat the heat at Eagle Camp. During free time, you can choose to layout at the pool, play some games, hang out in the shaded pavilion or participate in more extreme activities like kickball, shoe be-gone, frisbee golf, the ropes course and more.

What is early check-in?

Early check-in is a perk of everyone that lives on campus that also attends Eagle Camp. It allows you to check into your residence hall the day of August 21st (1:30–3:00 pm). This is only an hour and a half and is not intended to be a time to decorate your room, just a get everything from the car to the room.

After checking into your residence hall, those attending Eagle Camp B, will go to the Coliseum to check-in for Eagle Camp. After camp, you'll return to your residence hall and complete the check-in process and get your key.

Those attending Eagle Camp A can also come and use this time to check-in to your residence hall but you will not be allowed to continue moving stuff in throughout the day. You will have to leave after early check-in ends and come back Sunday morning to complete checking-in to your residence hall.

Do I need to bring extra money?

Yes, it is a good idea to bring some cash if you plan to purchase any snacks from the vending machines. All other activities and meals are included in the cost of Eagle Camp.

What do I bring to camp?

Here is a list of things to bring to Eagle Camp.

What do I not bring to camp?

Any items that are extremely important to you or expensive should probably be left at home. Any alcohol, drugs or weapons of any kind (including pocket knives) are not allowed at camp. We take this issue very seriously, and if you are caught with any of these items, you will be sent home without a refund and referred to the Center for Student Rights and Responsibilities.
